Hatchet, you are one of the ones I missed with my email earlier this week and I am sincerely sorry.
I talked to him Monday or Tuesday and he said he was just home from the hospital. He had had pneumonia, was troubled by his gout but feeling better.
He didn't tell me about his granddaughter coming to take care of him but then MANY things could have changed since Monday!
He told me a nurse who was also a CG grad was taking care of him (I'm sorry but I didn't recognize her name.)
He sounded good, not short of breath at all but he didn't seem as chipper as usual.
However, he was looking forward to roasting OJ in October and he spoke of several stories he planned to tell. I tried to cut the call short when I realized he had been ill but he wanted to talk,,, so we did and it was a fun “Vandy” kind of conversation.
Please let me know if things have changed for him
thanks for reply, i have left VM with Dunn but not answer back. prayers are with him. I will visit him monday
can you expand on OJ roast? would be good to record for history. i talked with school board president trying to get OJ/Paddacks recognized for their CG efforts. president stated he would talk to super. hatchet
Recived e-mail from Dunn and it stated Vandy better. visiting nurse is coming often to check on him and verify he is taking medication. i was also informed Vandy on oxygen. message was short but said he is much better

As for OJ's roast: at the last reunion we had gifts for Vandy and silly awards/stories about classmates,,,, sharing stories and giving out dubious awards was a big part of the day.
After it was over, I realized that OJ, and a few others were inadvertently missed. The whole day was like watching a couple dozen puppies play,,, we just went from one fun thing to another without a lot of planning; we missed some opportunities to recognize OJ among others
For this next reunion, we thought we could make up for some of that by gently roasting OJ. We have a few silly stories we intend to exploit (golfing fiascos, phobia of birds, etc)
Anything you would like to add to the roast is more than welcome. Most of our ideas are at the half-baked stage (where most of my ideas stay!) so there is plenty of room for improvement and additions
If you would like to add something on a more serious note, we can do that too. He will love it,,, he will protest, no doubt, but he will love it
Hey PT -
Still in Resort Prision...only own one now...finally closed on the other property. But continuing my "sentence in tourista-ville for another month or so...
I thought of a goofy-golf gift for O.J. How about an old, bent, ucky golf club for throwing instead of a good one??? Sort of an "Oh, S--T Club or Iron?
I'll start working on a caricature this week. I'll see if I can do one that won't embarass me?
Your golf club heads sound great (as usual). You are the Queen of the creative sewing machine chicks! CHICKS??? That reminds me of easter "peeps"...maybe a package of them, if we can locate them this time of year? I'll also keep my eyes open for the standard "rubber chicken" gag gift. Hats off to you, as usual.
More Later & Keep in Touch!
Fly and PT - I saw a putter made of Sassafras twigs that might be nice in the golf set. PT, does your mom have access to sassafras wood in Brown Co.? The handle is crooked and knarly and the putter head still has the bark on all of it except for the front which is flat. Unfortunately, the one I saw is engraved, "Vermont Putter".
