Mr. V. was apparently a Canadian citizen when he enlisted as a Private in 1942, at the age of 24.
And as a sidelight, is anyone else surprised that this sort of information is now available?
...More than a little frightening, in my opinion!

OMG! I can't believe how easy it is to get all that infomation! And I'm sure you realize what those numbers are on the left!
One thing we can do to be a little safer from ID theft, is have the Social Security Office place a block on our SSNs.
It isn't fool proof but if someone tries to use your SSN, they contact you
He was native to Canada, but I believe he was already a U.S. citizen
Vandy's Dad was an executive with International Harvester, I think was the name of the company. The family was in Canada for awhile and during that time Vandy was born. Both his parents was American citizens. Vandy was born there but never a Canadian citizen.
Thanks Hawk, for clearing that up.
I'm a little disappointed though...
It would have been fascinating to find out how and when Vandy became a citizen!
International Harvester is still in business. They changed the name to "Navistar", and my Sis-in-law works for them in Chi-town.
He must have been bilingual all the time. Well, that explains his accent.
GB- If your sis-in-law's company is interested, I know where they can find a beautifully restored IH. A cousin restored my grandfathers and it's prettier than the day it rolled off the line.
Pickup truck, Semi, or Farmall Tractor, PT?
