Christmas Eve, 2010

I'm at work.
It's 1:50 A.M. as I punch these keys. I've had a quiet night... one call to see how long it would take us to fly to, believe it or not, Princeton Indiana and transport the patient to Evansville.
Our ETA was too long and the caller declined the use of our services. Whether they chose to fly the patient with another service or load them into an ambulance to drive the few minutes down U.S. Highway 41, I don't know. But I just took a look at our weather-radar and there is a green/white/hot pink blob slowly creeping across the map with us directly in its sights. The snow is supposed to start shortly after Noon tomorrow and continue for 24 hours. The approach of the system will soon make it impossible for me to consider a flight to help a patient from hospitals West of us. My shift tomorrow night will probably be spent with the BK117 safely ensconced in the hangar while me and my crew try to find "It's A Wonderful Life" or "White Christmas" on TV somewhere.

My son is home from California. He is healthy. Having him under our roof is a comfort. I'll be working all but one night during his visit, so we need to make plans to best use that one night before he has to return to L.A..
It's my hope that this post also finds you well, and focusing on what is REALLY important...
Sharing time with friends and loved ones.
And know that I look forward to sharing time with you soon, too.
Happy Christ's Birthday.

We are wishing you and all your Family A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR. I want to thank you for spending the time on this blog and getting us to remember the good times of our youth. You have helped us renew old friendships and make new ones from old classmates. I have had a great year with all.
I know you will only have one night with your son but you will make the most of it. He knows you love him and support him in all that he does. He is lucky to have you and Sara Jean.
Suzan is having a great Christmas with news about Danny, and a new grandchild on the way. Karen and Shify seems to have adjusted to this Florida life very quickly. Karen has never met a stranger. Steve and Cindy had better be careful. As YOU know once you get Florida sand in your shoes you never want to leave. Hope they have a good winter. I have not heard when Hawk and Mrs Hawk are coming south. I know they will not miss it.
As for us we will have our total family here tomorrow. I don't care what the house looks like. We will have 365 day to repair. I know TC and Sharon are happy about daughter moving closer.
Well I guess it is time for me to go to bed so Santa can come.(Grandkids at the house)
I wouldn't want to be from any other place or anybody else. Well Carol said she is going to bed and I am going to join her. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT. H of H & C

Daughter flew in last night @ 2225. Woke up early this Christmas morning, had coffee on the back porch overlooking the beautiful Eau Gallie river, watching the pelicans diving for breakfast. The manatee are up in this part of the river now because of the cooler weather. Have not seen any alligators yet, but they are around. This is old Florida at its best. We are visiting Cinder's family this Christmas and will be with them all day. 17 total including friends and family. I picked up a case of Leroy's famous Chocolate Raspberry Port before heading south and am looking forward to enjoying a little of it this evening. All of the above will make for a very nice Christmas. Lots to be Thankful for. Our Golden Girl got the best gift ever this year. Thank You, Jesus, for watching over Danny and delivering him safely back to his family this Christmas Day 2010

Wishing all a very Merry Christmas!

We are in Arizona celebrating Christmas. It's nice but not like an Indiana Christmas. Nevertheless, we've had a wonderful day with friends.

I'm just like H; I would never want to grow up any other place or have any other class mates than I was so lucky to have. Clint thinks it strange that we love to see each other after all these years. It's a closeness, caring and love I can't explain to him. I treasure our memories so much.

God Bless and Merry Christmas
Bo

Mrs. Hawk here - So glad to hear Suzan's wonderful news. Glad to hear about all of you at Christmas. Yes, this group is so special. The Class of 65 was the best, as Mr. Vandemeyer said.

We had a nice Christmas. My son and his famly stayed all night with us and went to church on Christmas Eve. Christmas morning so exciting to see our 21 month old William lovin his Christmas that Santa brought.

We have a new project at our house, new kitchen cabinets. The completion date is set about the 10th of February. We will head to Tampa about that time.

We have have had about 17 inches of snow this December here in Indiana. It is so beautiful out right now with about 6 or 7 inches on the ground. I do hate the snow and cold more every year. With family here in Indiana I do not see us relocating to Florida for good. Great to get away from the cold, but miss the grandkids too much.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a goodnight!
Mr. Hawk

Thanks for the kind words, H.
I must admit, it's mighty disheartening sometimes to watch as the blog seemingly stagnates. When PT and I started the thing I had such high hopes this would act as a "Backyard fence" for us all and would continually be brimming with news and conversation. It hasn't turned out as I had hoped, but posting and reading the posts of others here has been educational in many ways.
I've said before, it takes very little time for me to post something I think might fire a few synapses and get a response or two, so I'll continue to do that so long as ANYONE seems to be paying attention here and enjoying the blog...
And I sure love the minis and the closeness we continue to show one another.

I took our son (and Desi) to the airport today. He should be home safely as I write this. As always, I didn't get to visit with him as much as I would have liked, but we also weren't together so much that we got onto one another's nerves, either. That keeps us looking forward to "next time".

I'm frightened enough by my economic crystal ball that I fear quitting my job. If not for that I'd be rubbing elbows with many of the rest of you in Florida right now. I'm hopeful my fears of the future are proven to be paranoia...
Give me a year or two to see how the wind is blowing and I may be more comfortable about loading up a moving Van.
And Mrs. Hawk...
Your kids might be glad to have an excuse to come South for a while!

As Tiny Tim Said "God Bless Us Everyone". Ditto to H of H&C concerning GB and the blog. Two Dogs, I'm not particularly one for Florida to live there (but then I never have either) but you make it sound pretty inviting.
Bo, just had and old roommate from BSU and wife (Sheryl T.) buy a place on 5 acres down around Durango. Will see then on Monday (in Muncie) . . . . what were the girls names from Crosley again? I told Sheryl about our conversation but forgot other names and what they did, ie; hair cutting etc.
Best to All

Only 149 days till Race Day in Indy.

DJ,
Joyce Ayers cut Cheryl's hair before Thanksgiving Break Freshman year. Cheryl cried but came back to school with even shorter hair after break. The other girl she may remember is Denise Twigg. Tell Cheryl that Denise sang a lot and may have pierced Cheryl's ears!

We were usually in trouble with Udder Rudder. HA!

I am late getting back to our well wishers. Just got this IPad up and sort of running. We have indeed been very blessed this year to finally get Danny home.
What an anniversary gift indeed.
I want to thank all those that gave such love, support and prayers during this difficult time. Without any of of your prayers, it would have been very difficult for Ken and me.
May God Bless you all and may this year be the very best for you
We are on the mainland awaiting new grand baby, who has decided to make a late entrance to this world.

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and looking forward to a wonderful New Year. Been busy and hectic here. Just got done buying a new van (Honda Odyssey) hate dealing with car salesman. Been looking at another House going up at sheriff sale Sharons ready to shoot me. I hope I see you all again! Sounds like the mini in Madsion, In. will be fun will be looking forward to that. I'm ready for spring sick of winter. Maybe Sharon would be happy if I bought a home in Florida? I'm like Graybeard I may have to work until I'm 80. Hate to give up hunting trips, golf trips, lunches, dinners, ball games, broadway plays and a car, etc. If they don't make me work more then 20 to 24 hours a week I guess I can hang in there. I do enjoy dealing with my customers though. Keeps the mind and body working. Harry got any good fishing holes ready? If you and Carol or coming up this way in April or May give me a shout you can stay with Sharon and I and we can do some fishing here. Keep up the good information on the blog. I do read it 3 or 4 times a week. I'm not the best at writing but enjoy reading it. TD hows the retirement going? So long for now see you all soon.
