Another Mystery Man
I'm hoping you can all see this image.
First clues:
He was born in 1928 in Pennsylvania.
His Father was a Lutheran Minister.
At age 15, he got his first job at what would be his lifelong career.
He was a drummer in a band, and met his wife, Betty, while playing at his Father's Church.
They were married in 1952, and moved to take on a new job in Kokomo in '54.
Okay, ya ready? Here we go...
The Kokomo job was with WIOU radio.
I'm out the door, headed to work, and I bet we at least have close guesses by the time I check in later!
Indeed, it is Bouncin' Bill, and he died almost exactly two years ago. I can vividly remember his "early morning vitamin pill" broadcast!

But no, and no.
Walter Crankcase 'er Cronkite

Walter Crankcase 'er Cronkite
Bo
Fred Rogers?
Buffalo Bob?
Clarabell?
Soupy Sails?
White Fang or Black Tooth?
Leon Hart?
Can I make a suggestion?
It might be better and more constructive for everyone if, instead of asking, "Is it Godzilla?", we might play this game by asking, "Is it bigger than a breadbasket?"
That way you eliminate certain populations, and everyone has that information.
And the answer is, yes, he's bigger than a breadbasket!
Is he an African-American singer?
Is he is an African American singer born in Pennsylvania in 1928, that would make him:
Julian Edwin "Cannonball" Adderley
He's not Black, Joker, although I can see how this pic suggests he might be. (I guess it's a helpful clue to say that I had a heckuva time finding a good picture of him.)
He is not a professional singer, and by that I mean that's not what made him famous.
LOL
Ok, so I can stop looking at every Black singer then, right?
Yeah, the pic does look like he's mixed.
Ok, I need to re-group! Ha!
Aw GB, too many rules!!! Especially for a libertarian!! ;))
Kokomo? Married to Betty? Bigger than a breadbox?
Has to be my Uncle Morris. No doubt about it. What do I win?
PT-
Your Uncle Morris was born in 1923!
GB in first grade.
Bo
GB-TDs and I are lost on this one because of the eyes.
Did he continue as a drummer in Kokomo? Did he wife play or sing?
Bo
TD-
Next time I'll try to find a subject with bigger eyes.
Bo-
I think the fact that he was married is only helpful in fact-checking to see if you have the right guy.
Deceased or still alive?
He has assumed ambient temperature, Asoka/Ashoka.
Bouncin' Bill Baker
would be my guess
Ambient temperature was the clue I needed. It has to be Charles William "Bouncin' Bill" Baker.
Tony Hulman or Orville Redenbacker
OOOOOooooo it is the radio guy who used to be on WIBC,,, he always gave the SKEE-DOOL-LEE (schedule)
Bob Something ( man oh man I KNOW this one is RIGHT!!!! I just know it!)
Harlo Higginlooper
Bo
Wow. I've remember the name "Bouncin Bill Baker", but had no idea what he looked like.
Was Bouncin' Bill an African-American singer?
Just kidding, sorry. I'm still on that.
OK...I got one...next
