Ahh, thank you for asking! It's 72 degrees, with puffy fair-weather clouds spotting the sky. There's a 7 knot breeze blowing from North to South. Lucy thinks the balcony is the most perfect place in the world. There's just enough moisture in the air to cause the bottle of Tequiza sitting at my side to sweat slightly.
We left home at 1:30 P.M. yesterday and arrived Destin just after Midnight last night. Gorgeous weather all the way down with minimal traffic. (We saw a helicopter on the highway just North of Birmingham that had traffic backed up 5 miles... gave me a sense of what people must see when I'm similarly blocking the road, and I was glad we were in the Southbound lanes looking at all the non-moving headlights. Between Andalusia and Crestview the sky was clear and there was no man-made light. The stars looked like crushed glass on asphalt reflecting the sun... millions of 'em! Breathtaking.
PT is cleaning out the attic. I am supervising a professional who is shampooing furniture, while I do spot painting of scratches and scuffs in traffic areas. Sara Jean is painting bedroom furniture she has grown tired of looking at. We'll be here 'til Monday morning, then will race home for a partial work-week before heading to Indiana.
For all DDFF'ers: We're going to Kenny D's tonight for Mahi-mahi sandwiches and red beans and rice with andoule sausage. (Just wanted to make your mouth water a little!)
Ah for the golden life of a pilot! Even the pilot's dog has a golden life!! Good on ya!!
What is a Tequiza? Does it go with bacon and eggs? How was Kenny D's? I've never been there but it sounds like a great place.
The weather here has been sunny and cool -- extremely nice for Texas. On our bike ride yesterday, it seemed like everyone was outside -- playing ball, walking dogs, just enjoying the air.
I can’t wait to feel the cooler air of Indiana. I wonder if the leaves have already changed
Well guess what PT, I am wondering myself about that Tequiza. I hope we find out if it's good with bacon and eggs!
Not much change in leaf color yet. Some people say we were too dry this summer for a colorful fall.
GB, I'm here in the corn dust suffering from a sinus infection. I closed my eyes and pretended to be sitting on your deck when I read your comment this morning. It sounds heavenly at the ocean.
We are leaving Wednesday for Lake Lanier in Georgia for the annual get together. Wish I could be with you all next week end; sounds like the weather will be great. I will be thinking of you all.
Anybody got any good ideas for a Halloween costume? It's almost that time of year, ya know.
A long time ago, a friend of mine went as a brick and her boyfriend went as a brick layer, complete with bib overalls and trowel. I thought it was the funniest thing I’d ever seen.
My spousal unit and I once went as Killer Bees ala SNL. I wore a yellow cape, lots of junk jewelry and a tiara -- s.o.p for Queen Bees. My husband wore a sombrero, and carried a bottle of tequila -- South American Killer Bee.
I've used the Vulcan Nurse and Klingon Nurse outfits before so I need something new and creative.
A Halloween costume PT? Why that's just TOO EASY, and right under your nose! I vote for this one!
And Tequiza? One of "The choicest products of the brewer's art!" I think Anheuser Busch produced it to compete with Corona when they couldn't buy controlling interest in that company. Tequiza is like a Corona with Lime already in it, but has other things added too. I like it better than Corona, but ya can't find it everywhere.
Bo... start making plans for next year's DDFF... Harry and Carol, help me- was it 18 May?
PT- I'll have to stop by one day while you're doin' housework and get photos for VK I guess. I'm sure others will follow your housekeeping "fashion statement" lead.
Bo- As a former citizen of St. Louis, it is heresy to talk of partaking of a product not brewed by AB. Tell Clint I'll forgive him this trespass because I know he wasn't aware of his transgression, but that I'll expect modified behavior from him in the future!
After posting this comment, I'm off to Pensacola to visit Ms. Nellie. It's about a 90 minute drive over, and I'll be listening to a great Oldies station along the way. Westbound, I hope I'm not "Blinded By The Light"!
GB, Hope Sara Jean, Lucy and you had a great time in Destin.
OK, OK - Kenny D's for Mahi-mahi sandwiches and red beans and rice with andoule sausage, but add a dozen raw oysters on the side for me. Nothing better.... On the way back to the Condo, I'll walk it off. What is it - about a block?
Sitting on the balcony, drinking a Tequiza sounds pretty good right now, also. PT, you gotta be there next year. And come ready to shuck some oysters. Cappy and I had trouble keeping up with the demand at the inaugural DDFF. We need more shuckers....
GB, Did you see the 844# Mako that was caught out of Destin on Saturday? Charter Boat, grouper fishing - Can you imagine landing a fish 4 times bigger than the one Cappy hooked? Gives a whole new meaning to the '08 DDFF.. Fix a date, We'll be there.
GB, Clint knows....he told me to tell you that we "Chill" to rattle your seat on the balcony. Yeah, he had a big laugh when he told me to let you know about his brew. (He won't tell you or me but he'll be looking for Tequiza....I don't think it's sold here on the wild roads of central Indiana.)
We got back from Pensacola about Midnight last night. Stopped off at SuperWally on the way home to try to find a couple throw rugs to replace some that were worn out here... no avail. We'll have to do it next trip down.
It's now just after 9 A.M. and we're doin' the "put it in the bag, put the bag by the door for packing" routine. I hate this scenario... partly because it seems so disorganized... partly because it means we're leaving a place we love so much.
DDFF'ers- They've done much to improve the looks of Gulf Winds East... Lots of new plants, some new palm trees, and the grass is all lush, green, and thick because they have the sprinklers all working efficiently. May will be paradise!
TD- What's the rule... little fish attract bigger fish, right? I didn't see the report, but MAN! That would be "boat towing" size, wouldn't it? Amazing.
Tequiza - You are right, GB, good stuff... not quite as 'stout' as Moosehead or St.Pauli Girl, but very good.
I would tell Bo where to 'find' it in Indy - but, based on the razzin I took from PT and her about buying brisket in Indy (Ya guys remember that?), I'll just say that Tequiza is available in Indy, ya just gotta know where to look.....Bo, I know that you love the Valley, as do I. But, there are other places to buy groceries beside Hamptons.(BTW, stopped there myself, just the other day,to buy some gizzards-mmm,mmm, good!).
PT and Bo, bring the guys and join the fun in Destin next May. PT, on the way - grab Mr. and Mrs. Tools.
GB, I'll email a link to the story about the large Mako.
GB and TD I'm showing the dates on DDFF as May 11 Through May 18? Sounds great already. Kenny Ds for Mahi-Mahi. Makes your mouth water. Great little place to hang out. Harrys fish fry is great.Sitting on the balcony just daydreaming and watching the sights, how great. See you all in Indy Sat. Indy Echo what do we need to bring. Food or plates, cups, forks, napkins? Or cash? Please let us know. TD and GB I've rented a car also so we have two plus Golden Horse. Will discuss more Sat.

GB that would be a nice Halloween costume but that's what I wear for ordinary days.
PT, I love Halloween, one year we had a horse with a kid dressed like a Trojan on our front porch to trick or treat....have ya got a horse??
GB, I am hoping to be at DDFF this year since I can't make "VK's in the Land of the Wikki Wackii"!!!
That's just gonna be FAR OUT.
Oh yes, Clint wants to know if you have had any "Chill", he hadn't seen the Tequiza.
