I'm so sorry to hear about Mrs. Witty. I know the last part of her life was difficult but I think the most of her life was full and rich. She certainly helped raise some wonderful kids.
I remember Mr. and Mrs. Witty helping with a backyard party for some rowdy junior high school kids who were just learning to dance. She served lots of food and we played 45rpm Rock n’ Roll records. Great memory
I forgot to "sign" AGAIN! ARRRGGG

A beautiful, kind, classy lady.
As kids, we always knew the Witty home was also ours.
Steve and Jeanie, I'm so sorry for your loss, but how lucky you were to have had her in your life!
Your wonderful memories will sustain you.
I'm sorry about your loss. I remember a lot of days playing basketball in the garage, The coffee can goals. Never could win.
She always was nice to us.

Steve, I remember GB and I went to the creek one winter when I fell through the ice. I ran as hard as I could to the Witty’s house before I froze. I was soaking wet and your mom let me in on her shiny kitchen floor. She fixed me something hot to drink while we called GB’s mom to pick us up. I’ll bet this was the norm for your mom being so nice.
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. May God Bless you.
Steve & Jennie -

The Wittys were an integral part of our childhood in the Valley. Sad to see another chapter close. Rest in peace, Alice. To the Witty kids, sorry for your loss. Thinking of you today.
The basketball goal was mounted on the garage. The football field was the lot between the Witty's and Jane Ann's house. The baseball diamond was in a field South of Steve's house... we played many a game of "Home-Run Derby" there. His house was at the end of my Indy News route, and there always seemed to be some sort of "pick-up" game goin' on there.
And there was just no question that we were WELCOME at the Witty's.
This is EXACTLY why the Valley was such a special place.
This is why I SO look forward to sharing this weekend with other Valley Kids.
The Witty's had the only swing set in our little area, so you would think Alice and Harden would have gotten sick of the little rugrats playing on their swingset.
We'd practice jumping out of the swing and one day, the swing hit me in the back of the head and sliced it open. I remember feeling the back of my head and blood pour out of the slight slice. I went running home thinking I was dying.
The one thing I remember most is that they had a piano in their house and Patty took piano lessons. That seemed like heaven to me.
Rest in peace Alice. Our prayers are with all your family.
