Thanks for the Posts. Hey GB, I'm really not pulling your leg on this one but I did know that he was a decorated Vet and I felt it was a sham to rename the airport just to help advertise the city "Brand". Just last week a friend of mine and I got into a "friendly debate" about the / his name and the airport. I won, but I'm not about to tell her that! Had to do with his first name . . . Maybe this will propell me into going out to the airport and looking around . . haven't been to the new one and its been opened for quite a while .

Some of my fondest memories prior to being drafted are my late-night trips to Weir Cook, DJ.
You could park on the ramp, leave your car, and go to the observation ramp. The 707 had just started servicing our airport, and I was shocked by how much power those engines produced!

Now, it would cost a day's pay to do that. (Another experience our kids will NEVER have.)

GB, I remember going out to the airport after visiting my Aunt on West side and parking at the "end of the runway" ? (I was still in single digit birthdays) and I was ready to get the heck outta there after the first one almost crushed us. I went out in later years and it was totally different than I remembered, but the planes were still something else. I remember the 707's for different reasons in the late 60's but they were still the biggest ones in the sky at that time. American Airlines non stop to Dallas (Love Field) . . . a different time . . . a different world . . . I'm not sure, but I think I liked it better then, even with all of the other stuff going in the world. BUT today was a good day, so best to all the Vker's out there. And, Good Night David!
