October What?

Does anyone know the October dates for our next mini-reunion? I think it's Oct 7th but the airline folks need something firmer than a guess.
Many thanks

I was under the impression we were talking later in October, at least I hope that's the case.
Wasn't last years gathering closer to Halloween?

Ok guy's mark your calendars for October 21st for our next get together. I know there is no one date perfect for everyone so hope this date is good for all of you. Had the last one the week end of Halloween and some couldn't make it because of grandkids and Halloween parties etc.

Sorry for the delay in getting with you about the date. Had planned on posting info last month but Shifty's sister passed away unexpectedly. Went to Ohio for the funeral and two days after we got back had a second death.

Am so glad to hear that some of you are planning on coming in from out of town. We have a couple of really nice hotels one exit from us (about 3 miles). I will be glad to check on rates and availability for any of you needing rooms. Also if you are planning on coming in on Friday would love to have you come to the house on Friday evening for a pre-get-together. Of course any "locals" that can make it also. Then Sunday morning thought we could all have breakfast together before departure. Let's make it a week-end affair.

Jamie planning on you being here and entertaining us again with your wonderful music.

The idea to "roast O.J." sounds like a real hoot. Appreciate any help I can get from all of you on this.

Read that Vandy's isn't doing well. Let's all pray that he improves and is with us again.

The plans are for a PITCH IN DINNER again. The food last year was fantastic. Thought we would plan to start early in the afternoon so we can have time to visit and then chow down. Then the festivities, roast and anything else we can come up with. Then the bon fire. By that time we should all be ready to eat again and can do the hot dogs, marsh mellows etc.

If any of you need to call me my office number is 800-974-2441 and home number 317-729-2440. Feel free to use the toll free office number. To e-mail me - magadspec@earthlink.net. Be sure to reference Mini Reunion as I get so much junk mail I get delete happy at times.

Also, I want to plan the menu again so we don't end up with those 20 bowls of potato salad. Please RSVP and let me know what you plan to bring. Out of towners don't worry about bringing anything I am sure us "locals" can handle everything. Lawn chairs are helpful for the bon fire. (Not to burn - to sit on)

Please help out on the roast for O.J. Not sure who came up with the idea but it sound like so much fun. Also if anyone has any other ideas for enterainment feel free to pass on your ideas.

Looking forward to seeing all of you. Please get in touch.

Hey Echo-
Thanks for the date reminder! I'm planning on being there...at least for now it's a GO!

I'll just keep all fingers crossed that everyone stays well around me! Mom needs a hip replacement...but...I'm concerned about her age (87) and complications??

I'm going to start work on a caricture of O.J. Maybe include golf clubs & balls, etc. and a few chickens... I'll see how this goes??? More Later.

Best to you & Shifty!

We will put Oct. 21st on the calendar and hope nothing happens.

I'm glad July is over with, One of my sons had cancer surgery, taking out his glands and lazer cutting the growth off his voice box. They think they got it all, but will have to be tested every 2 months. I was in Ft. Wayne a week with him and home for 2 days when I received a call about my aunt being very ill in Florida. I jumped on a plane and headed south. She died 2 days after I arrived and we brought her back for the funeral at Forrest Lawn in Greenwood. Last week I was in Phoenix visiting another son and his family. That was a good visit. My daughter-in-law is Manager of Communications at the
Phoenix International Raceway. She took us on a grand tour of the place, very interesting.

I'm back home and Tracy is definitely glad that he doesn't have to do his work and mine too. When you own your own business, someone has to stay in the office and take care of the work. Ha.

My e-mail address is:

Put Purple Tabby down for at least 2 people.

I spoke with Vandy Monday. He plans to be there and is looking forward to roasting OJ. He is helping find old photos of OJ.

Bev H is also looking for old photos at the Johnson Co historical society.

She used to do her algebra homework ahead of time so she could read a book during class!! I'm hoping she can present OJ with a book ,, maybe one titled "How Algebra Turned My Life Around" or "101 Favorite Trashy Novels for Algebra Class" (My favorite is "Bimbos of the Death Star")

I found a ceramic chicken that's supposed to be a candle holder -- it's the ugliest thing I've ever seen. It has holes all over it and Flygirl thinks it would be cute to use flower-card holders and fill it full of old photos.

Other projects include Chicken Head covers for golf clubs and of course a carrier for balls, ,GOLF balls. (now, to make those balls sparkly,,, yeah!!! THAT's the ticket,, SPARKLY balls)

Also a blanket --- hey, the other options are placemats or potholders! It will have Union colors, though, with a touch of red a white just because it’s the right thing to do!

If I can find it, I have a brass sign from an English golf course that says "Gentleman, please wash your balls before play." or something like that. It seems appropriate.

Vandy said he would put a little pressure on Bill to be there. He said he would also like to see Lt. Gen. Marty, Coach Witty, and Dr. Hardin. Can someone else help apply pressure to those guys? I'd like to see them too.

Flygirl is talking with Jackie B. It would be GREAT to see her again as well.

Of course Mother wants to be there and so do an Aunt and Uncle. Uncle Dewey played basketball at Union for Coach OJ. He has a few silly stories to tell.

I'm pretty sure David J wants to be there, and Mark G but we may have to call or send out emails to them and several others since not everyone checks VK.

Surly Hotlips and Hawkeye will be there (he still uses a dial-up so it takes forever for him to look at the blog site)

OH, Jerry Dunn may be there too; he likes roasting OJ and has lots of experience doing that.

I'll bring a brisket and the fixin's for John T's favorite drink. And maybe a dessert (I found a great recipe for blackberry cobbler topped with sugar cookie dough,, and then of course vanilla ice cream)

Later Trojans!

Man oh Man, am I sick that I can't be with you all for our "Roast a la O.J." I was hoping the party would be like last year at the end of the month. I didn't make the party last year because we had to go to a wedding.

We go every year in October to my cousin's house in Georgia with two other couples. One is a teacher at Whiteland and that is her only free weekend in October because it is fall break. There is no way I can get the Georgia trip changed to a different date - UGH and SOB.

I was really looking forward to seeing everyone; I am very upset that I'm missing this. Getting to "talk" with you all on the blog has made me feel like we are all close friends again. I miss you all very much. I will be with you in spirit that weekend; I know it be a wonderful and special memory for everyone who can go.

Please tell Jamie Lou I'm sorry I missed her singing. I still remember songs she taught me in elementry that we sang together!

Fly, I wanted so much to see you and catch up on a few years that we haven't been able to share. I hope "E" is doing o.k. and if she has to get a new hip all goes well for her. My dad is having back surgery Sept. 5th. Please keep your fingers crossed. He's 90 years old now and surgery scares him, big time.

Carol - I was looking forward to seeing you too; we rode the bus for all those years together!

I will be thinking of all the VK's that weekend.
