Transfusion!

I had to think a while about embedding this video here...
It was popular in 1956, just about the time I really started paying attention to music. As a matter of fact, my interest in this stupid tune may have led to my paying closer attention to ALL music on the radio and elsewhere. But 1956? Who's gonna remember that? Some VK's weren't yet born!

Other novelty tunes come to mind:
"Purple People Eater",
"My Friend The Witch Doctor",
"The Monster Mash"...
And you can probably name several more. I thought they were goofy, but fun. Other than the song parodies by "Weird Al Yankovic" I can't think of many novelty tunes being produced today, and that seems a shame. We could sure use a little more goofiness in our lives, couldn't we?

Sara Jean lives with "Goofy" every day!
It's Friday...
What's goofy with you?

Well, I have to admit, I never heard that one. I think one of the first 45's I owned was 16 Tons by Tennesse Ernie Ford. Played it on my Winky Dink record player. Beat that for hokey.
I do remember listening to some party records way back then and a couple of my favorites were "Brother Dave Gardner", and Rusty Warren. If you never heard Brother Dave, you missed alot. I sent off for his record just a year ago. My husband thought he was hilarious.

what about "Hotrod Lincoln"? I always love that song, I may be considered early rap.

SJ and I are scheduled for simultaneous colonoscopies tomorrow. We've added the water to the gallon jug with the "Golytely" powder in it and that mixture is chillin' in the 'fridge. I'm really NOT looking forward to drinking that stuff, and the explosion that results. But I'll sure be glad to have the confidence we'll have, knowing we're both okay "down there".
One positive thing...
Last time I gagged the gallon of laxative down straight. This time we have been advised we can add flavorings to it so long as they aren't red or near-red in color, so we'll pretend we're drinking lemonade this time.
Still... ugh.

Been there and done that. The prep is worse than the test, but is well worth it. Everyone over 40 should have it done.

Hope everything comes out okay for you and Sara Jean. I'm talking about your test results, of course!

Had one done a few years back. Wasn't that bad. The next year Bob had one and he cried like a little girl over having to drink the stuff. Suck it Boys.

HOPE ALL WENT WELL TODAY. DON'T REMEMBER TOO MANY NOVELTY SONGS FROM THAT TIME PERIOD. I WAS STILL UP ON DELAWARE STREET IN INDY. MOST OF THE CRAZY SONGS I REMEMBER WERE THE RAY STEVENS AND ROGER MILLER ERA.

Procedure is done and everything is good. Thanks to all for the good thoughts.
They did it under general anesthetic this time, as opposed to keeping me semi-conscious. (A first for me.) It's better that way, I think.
More details later.

I remember Brother Dave. One of his biggest fans was Steve B.’64. We use to go to his house and listen to Dave. He had one song About Chucky and girl friend Baby. Chucky with his leather jacket & Baby rode a motorcycle. “He had zippers on his sleeves and zippers on his back and a tattoo on his arm saying momma you the most." Maybe you had to be there.

I read a book about a kid growing up in Danville, Indiana in the 70’s. The name of the book is “ I Love you Miss Huddleston ” by Phil Gulley. Miss Huddleston was his 6th Grade teacher. He had some of the same adventures that we had. You will be reading some part out loud to your other. Give it a try.

I remember the song “Transfusion“.
How about “Alley Oop” ?

Hawk,

You have to send off and get Brother Dave. You can get it in CD format now. It sure can take your mind off of the world for a few. It is from two of his albums,
"rejoice Dear Hearts," and "Kick thy Ownself."

Rusty Warren had a album called "Knockers Up" She did a lot of work in Supper Clubs.

I'm glad all went well with your and SJ test, but I don't need more details later.

I'll have to check out the CD. Some reason I didn't think those songs would work on that format. Probably don't sound as good with out all the scratching.

Any more details on The Log Inn ?
How about the bonfire-pitchin at Karen's ? Date ?
Did anyone come up with an extra 1961 annual ? Maybe my name in the inside front.
