October Re-Creation

We've had a stretch of absolutely gorgeous weather in Greybeard-land. The two or three days leading to our "Valley Walk" weekend were "keepers", with the only possible complaint being the days were a little too warm. Over the last two weeks the temps have moderated here but the rain has mostly stayed away...
We're about 10 inches in arrears on the moisture scale and you can tell it from the cloud of dust following the combines as farmers harvest their crops... (they're getting those crops in in record time, by the way!)

Once again I'm at work waiting for someone to do something stupid so the phone will ring and I can go out and alight in the center of some intersection somewhere. This is my second night of two...
Sara Jean and I will be pointing our old car Southbound again Friday afternoon, destination- Destin. We'll spend Friday and Saturday nights there, then head farther South to Titusville Sunday to visit with a friend I met via the internet whose brother was also a helicopter pilot in Viet Nam and was killed during my tour there. Our main reason for the trip is to watch what MAY be the next-to-last launch of the Space Shuttle from this lady's back yard patio. We're hearing we'll be close enough to the launch site that our Margaritas and Grand Marnier will be shaken and mixed by the Shuttle's vibrations, thankyouverymuch. Sara Jean has never been to the Cape. I've not been since November of '69 when I was disappointed as I watched Apollo 12 disappear into the clouds and fog three seconds after liftoff. We're both looking forward to a safe, exciting (and visible!) launch.

We'll return to Destin after the launch and stay until Sunday the 7th. We tried to entice TwoDogs and Cinders to come have Red Beans and Rice with us at "Kenny D's" but they've just returned home from the Tampa/St. Pete area and say they have had their fill of travels AND Florida for a while. That leaves a bedroom open in Destin if you're interested in coming down, so COME ON DOWN!

But if you're trapped at home and home is still the Indianapolis metropolitan area, I think you should be tempted to go have a look here.
That's gotta be interesting and could be the impetus for another trip back to Indy for Sara Jean and me.

I'll keep you updated next week as we eat cajun cuisine, fresh seafood, and soak up the sun.
Why don't you keep the rest of us updated on your goings-on in the comments now?
C'mon now...
Do it!

Hi VK's
Someone just requested that I let you all know what's going on in my life. WARNING! Nothing noteworthy or exciting...just family care mostly.

Mother was in St. Francis hospital for 6 days. Released with an incorrect Rx which we didn't know until doctor's appointment on Monday. She was to have 80 mg. of Prednisone....instead they gave her 4 tablets @ 20mg. each for 4 days. Hey! Is anyone competant at their job these days? Just asking.

Went down and visited my cousin and friends in Dawsonville, GA over the week end. That is always lots of fun. He lives on Lake Lanier so there is a chance we will have fish for supper...not this time. The fish came from Kroger! HA!

Mother is feeling somewhat stronger; hopefully that will continue. She is wanting to go to Mesa this winter with us. I won't go without her.

Raking leaves, cleaning house, laundry....exciting stuff here at Bo's house this week.

Love to all,
Bo

We arrived safely at 2 A.M...
Typical gorgeous Destin day...
Mid 80's, few clouds, a light breeze.
Sara Jean's comment? We need to buy a trailer and bring the bike down!
Amen.

Just heard on Fox that the shuttle launch had been postponed until Wednesday due to a gas leak. This would be the last flight for Discovery. Hope it goes off on Wednesday so you can see it up close. Have a safe trip back. Happy Halloween to All. Also, there was an article in Thursdays Star about our old buddy Sammy Terry and a life size "reproduction" that 3 fellows from the south side have made at Sammy's request to be used at a special event (that I don't recall what it is). Sammy did just recently give permission (per the article) to his son to appear as Sammy Terry at personal engagements next year; Sammy Sr. is no longer able to make personal appearances due to health problems. Just thought you might want to look up the article for yourself.
Here's to "SAMMY"

Would you believe that they just said the launch was now scheduled for Tuesday . . . . hope it is a clear day whenever they launch.

I got to see this exhibit in Nashville a few years ago...at least it sounds like the same one. And it was really neat. They had a piece of glacier there for you to touch, and also a piece of the ship. I have to admit, I reached past the rope barrier and touched it.

At the end of the tour, I found out that "I" lived. I plan on going to see this again while it's in Indy.

I spent a little time at your old stomping grounds last wednesday. Ft Rucker then on to Enterprise. Looking at floors for the college. Thursday to Gainsville and back a meeting for the college.Friday I went on my first alligator hunt. Saturday morning we planted our food plots for the deer. That night to son's house for the neighborhood halloween party. I will pass on the trip to Destin. When you go and are on the way back stop by Chipley and we will find something to eat or at least talk about. SJ is right about a trailer now it a good time to ride around here. H of C&H

They've now postponed the launch twice...
Wednesday is now the earliest day they'll light the fire. We may be headed back home right after the launch H&C, so listen for your phone to ring!

I kinda like alligator nuggets, with honey mustard dipping sauce.
