CG- Circa 1955

Do all young boys want pretty teachers? These days too many pretty teachers are brought to our attention by way of their mug shots, after they've been caught dabblin' where they ought not be!
I was disappointed on my first day of second grade...
I don't remember any of the other teachers, but no one could have called Mrs. Saunders pretty. You can see from this photo that she had a skin pigmentation problem, which stood out like a Nazi Swastika when you first met her.

She was a gentle soul, and she cared for her kids right to her very core. She may have been the best teacher I ever had. I think the pigment problem became invisible to me after about a week in her class. By the end of the year, I loved her dearly.

I mentioned in a comment to my 1st Grade post the name "Sirona Morton". I now realize she wasn't in that photo 'cause she's definitely in this one. Lots of other familiar faces here too.

(Look at teacher's pet, right there next to her!)

Anyone else having trouble with the picture?

I'll bet the the young lady on your left could outrun you even back then.. Who is the girl between Kent and Kelous(Bub) - top row left side? What a bunch of cute kids! Again, it must have been in the water.... Or, like has been discussed before - good genes. It is hard to see a picture of us back then without remembering the Parents and Teachers. How lucky we were to have such a good group of parents and teachers to guide and mold us along the way.

TD, I believe that gals name was Carolyn Scroggins. I don't think she attended CG much beyond second or third grade.
And no fair... you've heard my story about "the fastest kid in our class", and know it WASN'T me!

Glad you can see the photo. I can't help but think some browsers are complicating matters.

This is great....seeing all these friends! I remember that teacher and how kind she was; you are right the discoloration on her face disappeared soon.

HOW ABOUT GOLDEN HORSE??? I KEEP HEARING ABOUT A MAJOR STORM HEADED FOR HAWAII.

Well, darn! I still can't pull up this picture. I thought today would be different.

Bo, I've been watching the hurricane forcast too and was worried about Golden Horse and hoping the hurricane didn't hit.

Here's what I just read on CNN: SOUTH POINT, Hawaii - Flossie was downgraded from a hurricane to a tropical storm hours after it sideswiped Hawaii's Big Island and turned its seas into roiling giant surf.

Flossie had delivered 30 minutes of steady rain to the small town of Naalehu on Tuesday night, and there was light rain Wednesday morning at Hilo International Airport, but there was little significant wind.

It was probably the SV septic issues.

Finally got the picture, thanks to GB.
I recognize a lot of kids in this pic. tallest girl in back row: Gloria L (aka Peaches), there's some in every row I remember.

Does anyone have a 2nd grade pic of Mrs Rueff's class. She was my 2nd grade teacher and I can only remember about 3 kids in that class. I remember Allen S. sat right in front of me and I had a big crush on him because he knew ALL his Roman numerals and I was SO impressed cause I hardly knew any.

And I remember Marty U. because he said a bad word in class when the teacher asked us what words rhyme with "art" and Marty said "fart".
At first we all gasped because he had said a bad word in class, but then Mrs Rueff started laughing so we all laughed.

Thanks Mr. L!
I have one more grade-school class picture to post-
Mr. Dietzer's 5th grade class, introducing "BoMarGirl and her friends!" Stay tuned!
It's funny, looking at all the young faces, how the names of a few seem to pop into your head. Some I can remember full names, some I can just remember "that guy was named Mike somethingorother."
Isn't memory an odd thing?
I don't remember Carolyn S. beyond second or third grade at all, so I'm surprised to hear she might have been around for 6th grade.

I'm sure there are other class pictures out there that we'd all love to see, but folks with the pics may not have access to a scanner. I'm wondering if there's a way to get those pictures to a scanner so we can post them here. I'd love to see pics of other classes, ie. some of the other 6th grade classes from the middle building!
Suggestions?

I think Joker swiped my picture. I had one this morning and now it is gone......I'm not happy about this. I saw a lot of friends this morning and I was looking forward to visiting them this evening. All I have is a box with a Red X in the center.....does anyone else have that or just me?

Don't feel too bad, I have never seen a picture here. I think my computer headed for the shelter.
