Wheels, Tunes and Memories

Sit back and relax and take a Stroll down Memory Lane with this
fantastic site.

My brother Terry (many of you may remember) is involved in a car club and is also a judge of Custom Car Shows through out the country.

He sent me this site and it is just so perfect for remembering old times.

Remember This ?

Great songs and cars. I wish I had about fifty of them. Maybe one day I'll get another one. I've sold all I had. My son Scott just found a 66 mustang 2+2 that was sitting in a barn the last 15 years. We pulled the motor out and have it just about gutted. Haven't had alot of time to work on it. Can't wait to get it done. Nothing like cruising in a muscle car listening to the oldies.

Weren't we lucky...?
I think Echo's title,
"Wheels, Tunes and Memories" so well defines our generation! Baby Boomers saw the transition from "Bill Haley and the Comets" to "Led Zep" and Ozzie's "Black Sabbath"... the start of heavy metal.
At the same time we watched as V-8 engines became more common (and much-much more powerful) in our cars.
I blogged about one of those cars that made a pretty strong impression on me here at VK some time ago.
My life, and the life of many of my friends revolved heavily around cars and music until well after we graduated. I think that's why "oldies" radio stations are so popular these days... our generation is reminded of the turbulent but interesting times we grew up in, and are transported back to those days when we were SO ALIVE, looking forward to a future that looked pretty exciting.

The Beach Boys, Beatles, Dave Clark Five, and Rolling Stones...
Mustangs, GTO's, 442's, and Corvettes...
And the melding of the two-
Music about the cars...
"Deadman's Curve", "Little GTO", "Hey Little Cobra", and "Don't Worry Baby".

If ya had the chance, would you go back and relive your life starting about 1962?
Some of us have had tougher times than others, so it might be a tough decision.
Me?
I'd be VERY tempted!

Your blog "some time back" is what made me think about posting this.

Even though I am a girl, I love cars. As I told in one of my blogs I had a 67 Camero that I dearly loved. My brother was into drag racing. I use to go an watch him race (on some of the back roads).

One time at a race some guys was talking about my Camero. They thought it was my brothers. They were ragging on "it may look good but I'll bet it can't run". My brother pipes up and says, " ya want to put your money where your mouth is?" The guy says, "ya, but why don't you let the "little lady" with you drive it. IF it's so hot then anyone should be able to win with it".

Terry, just smiled and said, "sure she can drive it". These guys didn't know that (I) had been racing it at Beanblossom etc."

So we pulled up to the line, I burned off the tires, and off we went. I blew his doors away. He got out of his car and started mouthing off about I cheated etc. About this time I stepped out of the car and his mouth hit the ground. There I stood in a maturnity outfit. I was 8 months pregnant.

Everyone started laughing, and he just threw up his hands and said, OK, OK, and handed over the money.
