Vks At the Indy Irish Festival

Update: TPO's Daughter will be performing Saturday -4:00pm on the O'Brien Stage! Those of you who can join us on Saturday - let's meet at this stage @ 1:30pm. Someone should be able to direct you to the O'Brien Stage. We can go from there and just plan on being back at the stage by 4:00. If all else fails - call and we can meet up that way. Remember - 1:30 pm Sat. Sept. 20th. at the O'Brien Stage...

If you would like a preview, TPO says "She is doing a live TV bit on Channel 59 next Thursday morning at 7:30 or 7:40. Then early morning on Saturday (don't know the time yet)."

In Sept. 07, a few VKs decided that in Sept. 08, we would get together and go to the IrishFest in Indianapolis. One of our own VandysKids has been involved with the IrishFest for years. From a very good source, it was a smashing success last year. Great entertainment and good food! TPO - Will you be there again this year?

Check out the website: http://www.indyirishfest.com/ Lots of good information and a map. Go there to view a short video of some of last year’s activities.

September 19th. through the 21st. Let us know if you plan to attend. Maybe we can enjoy this together. It will be fun.

TD - I was hoping I could make it this year; but, it's not going to work out for me. I hope the rest of you have a good time. I'll try to make it to Echo's next month.

Bad news from the irish dance front--My daughter Carleigh suffered a serious injury to her foot while dancing last night and probably will not be able to perform at irishfest this weekend. But irishfest will go on with plenty of other wonderful dancers and music on four stages. I will be there all weekend working so maybe I will get to say hello on Saturday. The weather appears to be cooperating. Thanks to all for supporting Irishfest. It is a totally volunteer program with all moneys being donated to various charities such as Irish Childrens Fund. Thank you again and hopefully will see you Saturday.

TPO,
I am so sorry that Carleigh hurt her foot....I'm sure that she is upset that she can't dance on Saturday. I hope it isn't very serious and she will be back dancing soon. Let us know when and where she will be dancing again. I love to watch the Irish dancers...it's hard for me not to try to join (and make a huge fool of myself!).

We are going to Cincinnati tomorrow to see our grandboys. I had planned on going to the Irish Fest this year but just can't turn down the chance to see Evan and Carson.

Just remember this:
THE BLESSING
Ah, 'Tis a grand thing
to be Irish, but to be an
Irish-American, now
that's a special blessing.

TPO', Sorry to hear of Carleigh's injury. Hope it is not too serious - too early in the school year for that! Was looking forward to seeing her dance. Should be about 8/10 of us there anyhow. Hope to see you. I know some of the gals have been talking about the Kilt... We may end up at the Suds in Greenwood Sat. evening. Hawkeye says that the Suds is back in business with new owners and the HotRods are back. Bo and Ferdy,TC & Sharon, we'll miss you guys. Hope to see everyone at Karen's in Oct...

What a letdown. I'm SO sorry Carleigh won't be dancing.
Oh well, we'll just have to start planning for next year, right?

Remember this folks...
the care and feeding of a relationship takes two parties. Continuously reaching out for others, only to find you are the only one trying to keep the friendship alive, eventually wears mighty thin whe the realization no one else cares becomes apparent. Don't sit home wondering why no one wants to be with you...
We ARE reaching out to try to stay in touch with these "minis".
Make the effort to meet halfway.

Hope to see you this weekend, or next month!

For all of you all that missed the fest - we had a great time. The music and dancers were great.

We had a nice get together at O'Charlies in Greenwood Sunday morning.

Good food - Great Friends.
What more could you have asked for.
(maybe more of our classmates)

I am more than ashamed of myself for not seeing you all at the Irish Fest or the breakfast this week end. I really do love you all but it seems this summer has been extremely busy taking care of my mother (90) and my uncle (93). We did go to Cincinnati this week end to see our son and family. We were able to see Carson, who is 3, play soccer. He was pushing other kids down and I asked him why he was doing that. He said, "cause I want that ball"! Carson is very small for his age and he runs faster than his feet can go and falls and eats grass. Don't know how long they will let him push the other children down though.

At any rate PLEASE forgive me! You all are my oldest and bestest friends even when we are only able to blog.

I went downstairs last night flopped on the couch and turned on the TV. There was Gen. RMU introducing Sen. John McCain to a group of people who had something to do with the U.S. Reserves. I JUST ABOUT ROLLED OFF THE SOFA!!!

Hugs and love to all VK's

Hey Bo
You don't have to ask for any forgiveness with us when it comes to family. Taking care of your elderly family is a full time job - 24/7. Glad you were able to get away to see the kids.
A couple of mine live in Phoenix and we sure don't get to see them often. If a chance arises to go see them - guess who comes first on the list??

Hey,
Good to see everyone at the (last) Sunday Brunch. Sorry to have to leave so early, unfortunately I had tickets to the ball game . . . . . but I stiil look for the Colts to come back and have a good season. Sounds like it will be the 25th. at Echo and Shifty's. I may be a little late (3-4p.m.) getting there, remains to be seen what develops that day . . . . but I will be there. Look forward to seeing some new old (familiar) faces. Been a crazy week but today is a new day and looks to be a little less confused. See you in October.

I would like to thank those who attended Irishfest last weekend. Crowds were a bit down because of threatening weather, but not a drop of rain fell at military park that day. 'luck of the irish'! Again, Irishfest is an all volunteer festival with no support from the city of Indianapolis and whatever profit realized is donated to several irish based charities. In addition, a canned food drive is held on Sunday to help local food banks. Carleigh update: Severe tendon and ligament strain-now in rehab. Hope to be competing again by late October, with the mid-america dance championships in November. Again, thanks to those supporting irishfest and maybe we'll see ya'all next September.
