Waiting For The Bus

This touched me.
I think you'll like it too.
Thanks Greg.

A great 'look back' and wonderfully written. And to think this came from an underclassman!

So many of us can relate to this - the sounds of the bus coming down the street, the squeaking of brakes as it stops at your best friend's house, the 'wooosh of air' as the door opens at your stop, the sights and smells of the freshly cleaned school. Some new faces, some old faces. Some faces that you may not ever get enough of. Some faces that you already had enough of. New teachers, some scary, some - not so much. All had the same goal, though. To get us through this. What an honorable profession - this teacher of our future generations..... So very important.

As to what the future holds for Billy - He will have a great start because of his schooling (and good parenting, I suspect) and although, he may not know it yet, Vandy (and many, many others like him - past and present) knew how important it was to make sure that these Vandy's Kids 'have what it takes' - to know right from wrong,to be capable of making the right choices that not only affect him, but all of those around him and to become good citizens of the United States. Good Citizens of the World! He will make a few mistakes along the way, No doubt. Right now, it is up to us, as Parents and Grandparents of these children, to make the right choices so Billy will have a great future. Vandy and friends put such a high value on 'future generations' and all of that which it entails. We need to continue to do the same.

You are right - not much difference between then and now - between you and I.

Thank You, Class of '66, for the memories!
