Happy Birthday Ferdy. Lets see here, is that 49 or 50? I'll have to go with the 50, which would make me about the same. Ditto to GB's wishes.

GB, we could still eat at the "The Log Inn" but there might be some issue with breaking and entering. Ferdy and T.C. should know of some good places in that part of the country. YEARS ago I stayed in Jasper and ate at the German restaurant (does that narrow it down) close to the Best Western? If it helps, I know a really good place to eat in Peoria.

Ferdy,

Happy 39th! Enjoy your day - the cold is on it's way again - but, it won't be long before Spring has sprung in Indiana.

Looking forward to seeing everyone in Southern Indiana. All we have to do is find a good spot. March 29 still good for everyone?

Good for me, TD. And I too am looking forward to seeing some new faces!
By the way, I'm at Phoenix Intl. Airport on my new netbook, using the free WIFI.
Neat stuff!
It's 85 here in blinding sunshine. We hear we'll be dealing with 68 and rain at home.
25 and snow tomorrow night...
Yikes.

Happy Birthday Ferdy,

Enjoy your birthday and many more like it. Wow 39th, amazing, I would have given you 38 at best.

Thanks for the birthday wishes. I did have a great day yesterday. I went to my youngest daughter's for dinner last night and met my other daughter today for lunch.

DJ - I was thinking 50 sounded pretty good until TD mentioned 39!
The German restaurant you're thinking of is the Schnitzelbank. They do have great food.

The Black Buggy TC mentioned is also great. One of my favorite places is the Gasthof Amish restaurant in Montgomery. They also have some neat little shops to browse through.

Ferdy, I'm glad that you had a nice day. Are both daughters close by?

The 3 restaurants all sound good. Probably all with a casual environment and great food. Which one could most easily accommodate the seating of 12 - 15 on a Sunday afternoon or evening - In a setting that would be conducive to good conversation? Ferdy/TC, if you have been to all three - pick one and we will gather the #s and the best time fit for everyone and go for it.. Any of those places would be a nice Sunday drive south for us.

TD - My youngest daughter, Sara, and her husband live about five minutes from me - very convenient!
Beth and her husband live in the same subdivision Mr. & Mrs. Hawkeye live in. I think that's sort of ironic that I grew up there and moved to Dubois Co. Beth grew up in Dubois Co. and moved there - just about three miles north of where I grew up.

The Black Buggy and the Schnitzelbank are not open on Sundays. The Gasthof is open from 11 to 3. The lady told me if I call and make a reservation, they will having seating for us together.

While I'm thinking about it, I'm going to be at Beth's from March 12 - 18 or 19 "babysitting" their chocolate lab while they go to Virginia to visit my son. If any one in the Indy area has free time while I'm there maybe we could get together for lunch or something.

Happy belated Bday.
As you can see I'm always a day late and dollar short.
That is why I celebrate all my kids and grandkids birthdays all at the same time. When you start forgetting those grandkids bdays, your in big trouble. I started 3 years ago and we all celebrate our bdays together at one time.

Happy belated B'day to you Ferdy! Hawk retired after 25 years at Allisons yesterday, Feb 27th; we can do lunch anytime you are here. Please call ASAP and lets make a plan for lunch, dinner, whatever! Any of you others who are available in the CG area, give us a ring and we will make a plan. Hawk and Barb

There is also a Black Buggy in Evansville.

http://www.blackbuggy.com/evansville.htm

It is open later until 8:30pm on Sunday. We could meet around 5:00 or so. That may work a little better for those of us who have to work Sat. night. Any feedback on this place?

The same outfit owns it as the one in Washington. Never eaten at the one in E'ville, but have eaten a couple of times at BB in Washington. It's pretty good as far as buffet food goes.

Hawk and Barb - Congratulations on your retirement, Hawk. Hope you enjoy your retirement as much as I enjoy mine.

How does Friday, the 13th sound to get together? I'm going to my ex-sister-in-law's house on Saturday. Beth told me yesterday she and Nick may be back as soon as Monday. Nick can't handle being away from Libby! I sure hope he's not that bad when they have kids. I want to be able to bring their kids to my house for a week or so to visit - especially in the summer. Maybe Nick was just deprived as a child because he didn't have a dog. LOL

As I stated earlier, the only weekend day that works with my crazy schedule is the 29th.
If y'all decided to do it on the 13th, can someone please take beaucoup pictures and post them here, along with a great narrative of the frivolity?

GB - As far as I know every one still plans to get together on the 29th. I'm going to be in Indy from the 12th until Beth and Nick get home from Virginia. I'm going to "babysit" their dog. I just thought while I'm up there maybe I could visit with some of the people living in that area. See you on the 29th!

I had a great idea. My son lives two miles from me and we built a great party barn. Has a kitchen, bath room, family room area with TV VCR and DVD player if anyone wants to bring old or new tapes.I suggest everyone come and meet there. I'll get Bar-B-Q from Shylers and all the fixens. You just bring yourselves and enjoy. We have darts, pool table, air hockey, bean bag toss and a lake. We can set the time thats best for everyone and stay as long as we want. Just a great time of fellowship will be alot more relaxing for everyone. TD's maybe you can get alot from Indy to come down Tieke's, Hawk and Barb and others. Bring two or three carloads. We can handle 40 to 50 people no problem. Hope this sounds good for everyone just let me know what everyone thinks.

TC,
Call me anything you want, but don't call me late to dinner. Can the rest of us bring dessert?
All I need is the correct address to enter into the Garmin!

TwoDogs said...

TC - Great Idea! We will be there. And I'll get in touch with JT and others from Indy and give them the details as they come out here. Really, JT is the only one that I know of that does not listen in on VandyKids. All others, if you are listening - comments, please!

TC - That's a terrific idea. It's always more fun if it's in a relaxing atmosphere.

TD - Are you and Cinders free on the 13th? Mr. and Mrs. Hawkeye and I are getting together while I'm staying at my daughters.

If any one else is free that night, let Hawkeye know.

Ferdy

TwoDogs said...

Ferdy - Yes, we are available Friday the 13th. and would enjoy visiting. Just fill in the details.

When all the Anonymous people show up for these various events, will they all wear a paper bag over their head like the unknown comic used to? ;)
