Old Indy TV-

It's a PDF file, and a little unwieldy to access and read, but there's interesting stuff here about the early days of Channel 6 and Channel 4 programming, particularly programming to attract kids during the 50's, 60's, and early 70's.
If you have an interest, check it out and see if it brings back memories.

I saw Curly on a local documentary a year or so ago and he was still performing then. That made me curious so I did a little searching and found this guy.

I absolutely hated Janie and Cowboy Bob, even before I saw how they treated kids with their parents vs how they treated kids without their parents (at the Indiana State Fair). The kids with no parents witnessing were treated rudely by both Janie and CB Bob.

But I loved Harlow and Curly.

Many, many, many years ago, a couple different friends of mine say they saw Janie out several times at bars drinking heavily. Someone else told me she was an alcoholic....this is just what I was told, so it could possibly only be idle gossip. I don't know. But maybe that was why she was rude to the kids. Maybe kids got on her nerves and she needed a drink.! HA!

one more thing
to Cissy,
I hated Janie, too. She got on my nerves, but I'm not an alcoholic. But I suppose if I watched her long enough I probably would have been!
Cowboy Bob was kind of dopey acting & looking to me, but one night at an Indpls Racers game (hockey) he was to make an appearance with his dog (can't remember the dog's name -- Tumbleweed, maybe??) and he was going up the back stairs instead of the elevators. We followed him & his dog up the stairs because all the elevators were taking too long. Anyhow, I thought Cowboy Bob was kind of cute in person, in a stupid sort of way. Other then that I really didn't watch Janie or Bob much.

When I was in high school, I had to go around the malls with Ronald McDonald and Peggy (she was a "follow-up" to Janie) and several of the channel 4 staff. They told us that Cowboy Bob was goofy. Said someone from channel 4 saw him out at a grocery store, in full "Cowboy Bob" getup and they said, "Hi Cowboy Bob." And he said, "shhh, I don't want to be recognized."
