DDFF Farewell

We've had a little more than a week in paradise and it's been grand. Today is the first we've experienced with no sunshine at all. The rest have been warm, but not uncomfortably so, and we've had enough sunshine to keep smiles on faces.

Harry and Carol came by Monday evening and we had a nice short visit over dinner. Today they spent most of the day with us and we had a delightful time, culminating with dinner over Sara Jean's scrumptious Italian Beef sandwiches. Full bellies and good conversation were the order of the evening.

Tomorrow we head North. I need to be at work early Monday, and we need a little spool-down time at home before getting back into our routine. Sunday will be spent unpacking, then getting the grass at home under control if it's not raining. (Rain is forecast, so folks at the track may be disappointed.)

I hope you all are in fine spirits, as are we.
If so, or if not...
Now's the time to share...
It's FRIDAY!

Sounds like "a good time was had by all". Have a safe trip back 'Up North'. Looks like the latest weather forecast says 30% chance of rain OR 70% of no rain for race time tomorrow. But that can change to 70% for and 30 against pretty quick. Actually, it looks like rain right now (5:40 p.m. Sat.) and is about 70% chance for rain later this evening . . . . . so maybe if I sit here a little longer it will be toooo wet to mow this evening. Everyone have a good weekend; and don't forget it's Memorial Day weekend. Thanks! to those who served and are serving.

DDFF = Good Food, Enough sun for a couple of Hoosiers who haven't seen much sun lately and most of all - Good friends to enjoy some down time with. Great to see H & C and also good to visit with GB's Mom. GB and I took his Mom back home and then visited the Naval Air Museum in Pensacola. Had a retired Jet Pilot as a guide. Learned a lot about the Navy and it's flying machines. GB's Great, Great Uncle retired as a Rear Admiral and was the Commander of the first aircraft to cross the Atlantic. He is deceased now, but, his craft is on 'permanent' display. It is really 'on loan' from the Smithsonian, but, is placed in the Museum in such a way that would make it difficult to remove. Smart people - Those Curators..

Had several outings at Kenny D's. Had a new waitress. Her name is Jodie. FlyGirl, you would like her... Kenny D's grouper basket is one of the best. Sara Jean made us some great Italian Beef one night. Carol and Harry enjoyed that evening with us. Numbers were down, but, all in all, Had a great time. And Yes, we had a couple of Margaritas...

We had a great time. The Ialian Beef was outstanding. The stories were well let me tell you how my face turned red. I should know when to shut up but I don't. It was a rainy day outside but the inside was full of fun and joy. Kenny D's on monday and just stories on friday. It is fun just to talk to good friends. Spent the Sat and Sun with son in Port St. Joe. Sun burn city. Caught 35 to 40 fish, not many keepers.

Times are tough, and we know everyone is scrambling to insure the rent is paid and the pantry is full. Still, it would be a lie to say we weren't disappointed with the lack of DDFF participation this year. But we all know ya can't go play unless the "musts" are taken care of. God willin', we'll try again next year, and let's hope President(?) Obama can do what he promised during his campaign and fill all our gas tanks and pay all our mortgages.
Then we'll all have money for the fun things...
Ya really gotta try that grouper basket at "Kenny D's"!
