Madison Ave Memories

Pokin' around again, and once again you benefit from the fact I have a job where I can sit and surf...
A job that makes it nearly impossible to keep that slice of cake from ending up on my tush.

Lucky you. (Lucky me too, I guess.)

I ate there once, and it was a bad experience.
Next time ya see me... ask.

But we all drove by the place for years, and I was wondering if they were still in business...
They're not, but the family has opened another restaurant in Madison, Indiana.
(The review is a good one.)

And... GUESS WHAT?!!
I had an absolutely delightful chat with Carol C. (or Casey B.) this evening.
We talked for a half hour or so and still need some time to catch up.
I invited her to meet with us in Eufaula, so you guys need to join me in the "full court press" here.

Casey, you out there?

I've eaten at the one in Madison several times and enjoyed it every time. I always liked the one in Indy, too, though. Several of my friends and I make an annual trip to Madison for wine. Lanthier Winery makes a Festival Cherry wine that has just a hint of chocolate in it. I love it!

I love that place, ate there many times over the years, and then, poof, it was closed...Also the Fireside South, best steaks back then.
I am kind of partial to the TeePee though. Their double deckers were awesome.
What was the name of that fish restaurant just over the line in Ky, that was a fake boat sitting in fake water? We used to stop there and eat when we would go down to the first factory outlets stores for shopping twice a year in Louisville. Kind of cheesey, but you just had to eat there.

The King Fish was the name of the fish place just across the Ohio River in Louisville. It is no longer there, but there is another one in Louisville, and one in Jeffersonville, IN where we go once in awhile. You can enjoy their fine food and observe the Ohio River.

No posts, so no comments yet.
Keep checking here and hopefully we'll have another place to be informed and entertained!

Thanks Mr. L.

Yes, that is the restaurant I was thinking of. Loved going there and the crowds were always large.
At least it has some charm, so many places don't these days.

If it is KWSH you are talking about, some of the employees have opened the one in Madison.

I thought this post was going to be about the "circuit" everyone ran from TeePee to Jerry's. We ran it from time to time, but mostly just hung out at Jerry's

And that reminds me of a couple of stories I need to write one of these fine days.

Sent in our deposit for Eufaula. Now I find out that I have been sold to the "lowest bidder" and will be working for a new contractor by then; that is, if they keep me. You never know. They might decide they only need one tech writer instead of two. So the one that does the work and is the dependable one gets the ax. We'll see how it all turns out, but tomorrow will be interesting.

At any rate, if I'm offered my old job, I'll tell them that I have plans for the first week of April. I'm going no matter what the outcome of this is.

"Sold to the lowest bidder"?
Cissy, we need to have a talk about how auctions work.

The way things are goin' in the world, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for ya. I'll tell ya the same thing a friend once said to me... "The cream always rises to the top."
I have a feelin' you'll come out smelling like roses.

Class of '65-ers, remember Bonnie D.? Opening odd doors at Facebook I found a "Bonnie D." (last name not the same as our classmate) listed as a '65 graduate. I wrote and asked, "Maiden name D******?", and got the response... Yes!
(Her new name not only starts with D, it has the same number of letters as her maiden name... HOW CONVENIENT!)

I'm workin' to gently bring her back to the flock. If you're a Facebook user, click the "CGHS '65 grads" button and gimme some help here!

I dunno...been told their nickname is "Cheap Skate Company". If they can me and keep the other one, I'll tell them to give me a call in a couple of months when they figure out they kept the wrong tech writer.

Cissy,
Good luck with the job situation.

I had a long post that "disappeared' so suffice it to say that I was very familiar with KWSH from my early, early days growing up on South Delaware Street. My Aunt had worked for C.B. Kendall Pharmaceutical Co. in the early 50's. Remember when they tore the original KWSH down, it was north of Raymond Street. They tore it down to make room for the Expressway. Just 2-3 years ago they tore down C.B.'s old house that was the second house east of Madison Ave. on Pleasant Run Pkwy just north of Manual H.S. There was more in original post, but can relate that some other time (in person). Hope all are well.

Did anyone ever eat at Steve's Hot Stew? It pretty much had only the hot stew for sale and huge platters of bread on the tables. Kind of a dive, but the food was amazing. It was on the Southside.

H&C -
Thanks for thinking of me. Don't think I'm gonna make Eufala, even though I know it will be such a great trip. My mother is with us here in Mesa and I really can't leave. She's having vision problems from Shingles that come and go. Being with you all would be much more fun; my heart and thoughts will be with you all.
Hugs,
Bo
