MayDay and M.A.V.
Hawkeye brought this pic to Echo's mini, so many of you have already seen it. But I loved it when I saw it and wanted to insure those of you frequenting Vandy's Kids had also seen it. Coat, pipe, and studious glasses... Coolness!
It's Friday again. What's cool with you?

Guess I will say something. Dave, I appreciate all you do. This picture reminds us we were all young at one time, and if lucky, get old.
GB I had seen this particular picture earlier, probably at the mini, but I agree that it could have been a promo shot for a 40's star. We never imagined the older people in our lives as once being young and pretty "cool" looking. Now we look back at our own pictures and sometimes wonder . . . . Anyway, thanks for the post, and all of the other posts too!
Okay, here's a story for you all. CAUTION! THIS IS NOT FOR THE WEAK/GAGGY STOMACH GROUP
We are home from Phoenix. But let me tell you about the flight.
Mother was in a wheel chair so she sat in the front row next to the window and I sat next to her. Soon a very nice elderly man came on and asked if he could sit with us. I said, "sure". He was very nice and we talked quite a bit before take off. He was from Brazil, Indiana. His wife had passed away 2 years ago and his daughter, who lives in Terre Haute, was picking him up when we landed in Indianapolis. Shortly after take off he fell asleep for a few minutes, then woke up and went to the restroom. He was gone quite a while and when he returned he told me that he had been sick in the rest room. I said, "are you o.k. now?" Luckily the Flight Attendant appeared with a plastic bag because he got sick again and vomited. She then put a very cold rag on the back of his neck and he relaxed and fell asleep. Suddenly, he had a convulsion. His arms and legs were going everywhere (and he was a tall, large man). I grabbed his arm and back, the flight attendant came over and he setteled down but got sick again. The flight attendant then got the oxygen out for him and I stood up because he vomited again. She told me I could sit in her Jump Seat. The Flight Attendant announced to the plane that she needed a nurse, EMT or physician to help. Just accross the aisle, also in the front row was a physician. He came over and volunteered to help the man. While the doctor was talking with the man, taking his pulse and blood pressure the man PASSED OUT! The doctor told the Flight Attendant to call Indianapolis and have an ambulance and EMT meet the plane. Oh, I forgot to tell you mother was moved over to the doctor's seat and they had this poor guy try to stretch out accross the seats. His legs were so long they reached accross the aisle so he put one on the floor and just put his foot on the armrest. The doctor decided to sit him up and give him something for nausea. When the man sat up he passed out again. The Flight Attendant asked me to move over so she could use her headset to call the Indianpolis ground people for help. MOVE OVER, WHERE!!?? I'm sitting on this little Jump Seat and I moved over as much as I could but noticed on the door a big lever that if moved would open the door and Bo would be headed straight south to Kansas! She told me she didn't want the passengers to see her use the headset....I don't know why. I think most everyone on the plane knew what was happening...anyway I was way too close to that door, kids. She did finally get the request through and I survived. Fly would be proud of me, I didn't even step in the box of peanuts and cookies under my feet! HA! AND BELIEVE ME, I was wishing my Fly friend was there, the Flight Attendant was not nearly as quick on her feet as I hoped she would be in this case.
Okay folks, it's time to land this bird! Guess where I go now....I had to sit with my mother, the doctors wife and another lady. That makes 4 people in 3 seats...quite cozy. They brought out a giant seat belt for Bo...the ones used for 500 pounders and strapped me down. Breathing was optional, the four of us just had to land belted in the seat. We did it. When we landed the whole plane applauded the doctor, who did a marvelous job. He had the best bedside manner with that man that I have seen. The EMT's came on board, gave the man 2 EKG tests before removing him from the plane.
I told the doctor he was an angel, and I really believe he was.
NOW....my cousin Donna picked Mother and me up and the airport. Got home, went to Fazoli's grabbed 2 baked spaghetti dinners and brought them back home for mother and me. Went to bed. At 1:00 p.m. I hear my mother sick in the bathroom. She was sick until 6:00 a.m. She felt a little better on Thursday but got sick again Thursday night. So Friday morning I took her to the Community South ER. Her blood pressure was 78/50. They kept her over night after discovering that she had stones in the bile duct. A doctor came into her room yesterday and asked her if she was still in pain. Mother said, "no". Well, he said, "you may go home". WAIT A MINUTE!! She has stones according to the CT scan, says Bo. "Well, I don't know about that", says Mr. genius doctor. "She is in no pain now, there is no reason for her to be here." WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO! "She has stones, the pain will return", said Bo. The genius doctor said, "well when that happens, take her to a Gastrointestinal Doctor". "NO, I WANT ONE NOW, TODAY to see her". Finally got a great GI doctor to talk with mother. He was very nice and scheduled mother for a procedure Monday to have the stones removed. I hope all will go VERY WELL.
That's the end of my story. You've heard enough from me for a while.
What an adventure! Glad you are home safely. Keep us updated on your Mom's condition. Did she catch the infamous flu? Destin in two weeks Bo... Be there.
GB, Destin sounds like heaven at this point. If mother gets well after the procedure tomorrow I will talk with Clint about coming down. Thanks for the invitation.
FLY Here - Your rendition of the flight from h*** brings back not so fond memories. If flying these days isn't bad enough, medical emergencies at high altitudes are a nightmare! What an ordeal for you & Ruby! I'm glad to be grounded and out of the sky! I commend the FA who followed SOP's. Sure was fortunate that a doctor was on board that helped the man.
I thought you were going to tell us that Ruby had SF!!! I was thinking of your being so close to Mexico during this break out, and wanting you to GET HOME!!!
My best to Ruby for a quick recovery!
I've a heavy heart this morning...my very favorite uncle passed away today. It's the last of the Jones's, and this brigs back the sadness of losing my dad. Gotta email the cousins and blow my nose!
Oh Fly, I'm so sorry your uncle passed away. If he was at all like your dear Dad, he was a delight. I know you will miss him. A hug is on your way through the air from me! Was he Peanut's dad?
Luckily, we didn't get SF in AZ! But I've washed my hands until they are raw. Since we have been told to call it H1N1, I've been calling it the Hiney flu! HAH! Let's ALL stay healthy.

I had to take a double take, at first, I thought I was looking at a 40's movie star.
