CenterGrove.org

I signed up for classmates.com not knowing what I was getting myself into. If you've also signed up there, you know most of what you'd LIKE to do there cannot be done without ponying up extra cash. I'm still glad I signed up there...
Signing on there put me back in touch with two or three classmates, and for that I'm grateful.

When I'm sitting around at work waiting on the phone to ring I frequently enter "Greenwood, Indiana" or "Center Grove High School" into a search engine just to see what turns up. Two nights ago when I did that, this site came up. The fact that it has a .org address means it's a non-profit, and I'm hopeful signing on there will beat a few schoolmates out of the bushes.

Drop by and take a look, then sign on if you're of a mind to.
But first... what's goin' on in your life?

A little mouse whispered in my ear this morning that DJ has school-related news to tell us...
An award or honor of some sort, DJ?

Oh my gosh! Did DJ win the Nobel Peace Prize instead of who the media told us won? I hope so.

Ya know Bo, I hadn't thought of that. But you've given me a great idea for a nomination next year...
There are several schoolmates that give me quite a "peaceful" feeling just being in their presence.
DJ is one of 'em.
You are another.
(I gotta quit now before the list gets boringly long.)

As GB says, please don't forget to sign your posts. GB, appreciate the thought, ........ not always that calm below the surface but a lot better than it used to be.
However, my fellow Amer//// Classmates, I would have to decline the "Prize" because I have done nothing to deserve it! ....... BUT on second thought.....that prize money would make a big dent in a " Class of 65 PARTY', so I have reconsidered and "Yes I will accept".

I did attend the 125 year CGHS celebration (B-Ball game) and it was a good time. Saw Mr. and Mrs Bobwhite and many others from years ago. As the CGH 125 Years post mentioned, the 50 year B-Ball team was honored as well as several teams and individuals. They also honored all former athletes and I guess that's what the mouse whispered about. But I was just one of several who fit that part of the program.

I talked with Bill Paddock (50 year B-ball Team) and we recalled the Union Bank & Trust fast pitch ball team that he managed (I pitched) at the Valley Community Center. I was 15 at the time. We laughed about the fact that the 'Industrial League' was by far the least contested when compared to the other (church) league. Played a lot of ball there that summer. . . . 30 games or so.

There were several items donated to the CGHS archives too. The most touching one (for me) was presented by Mike Squire. He still had John Brown's letter jacket that looked like new and he donated it along with another item to CGHS. My sister had dated John during H.S. and saw him after he graduated and went on to the Air Force Academy.
The ironic part is that he flew over 200 missions in Viet Nam but was killed in a crash in Arizona while serving as a flight instructor.

I talked with Mike S. for quite awhile and also to Hatchet about some other archives. Saw / talked to Mr. & Mrs C (they were both honored) and saw Carol's OLDER brother too. Oh, CG won the game / beat Bloomington North. CG had a couple of 'kids' 6'7" and a few more 6'3" to 6'6" with their shortest player listed at 5'10". Enough said.

Enjoyed the evening last night at Echo's and Larry's Christmas get together / Great food and a crazy group going for gift exchange / theft.

Coilts are at 1:10 to go in the 3rd. and Denver is going for a field goal and is Wiiiiiiide to the right. OK That's all for now. Colts just got intercepted AGAIN. Gotta go.

Thanks for that, DJ.
I have a memory of Mr. Vandermeer introducing John to the assembled classes in the gym after he had joined the Air Force. I think he was still an enlisted man at the time, but Mr. V. knew he was going places. Sad to hear he was killed.

Back from Fla.

What's the honor, DJ? And how big is the prize$$

TD
I'm still not sure if it's the Nobel or not, but I'm hoping the prize is at least a couple million or so!

DJ,
If it's not the Nobel Prize, you know your classmates just will never get over it. Especially the $$ part.

Ya know the really sad part is that if in the end there is no prize, I had already decided to donate the trophy or crystal bowl to CGHS as kind of a remembrance of days gone by. (please note that there is no mention of the $$ with the donations), but I would probably throw in a few just for good measure.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see if the Norway folks like Hoosiers. I do have one question / do I have to buy a ticket to win?
